FIBA Americas U16 Tourney

The 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship will be held June 14 - 18 in Formosa, Argentina. Training camp to determine the 12-member USA squad began June 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Held every other year, the FIBA Americas U16 Championship was first contested in 2009, and under the direction of Coach Showalter, the USA has earned the gold medal in all four editions, compiling a perfect 20 – 0 record.

The draw for the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men today was held May 23 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the USA was drawn into Group B.

Following preliminary round play, teams will be seeded, and the top two from each pool will advance to the June 17 medal semifinals and the finals will be contested June 18. The top four finishing teams will earn a berth to the 2018 FIBA U17 World Championship.
